Your HR New Year's Resolutions
Recently, the Forbes Human Resources Counsel published its list of of the top 15 HR initiatives that companies should emphasize in 2021. While many seem obvious or naturally intuitive, a few merit even deeper consideration:
Greater Support For Remote Workers — Remote work will not go away. It may change some as the pandemic recedes, but it’s not going away. Companies that plan for it will have a better chance of success.
Reducing Attrition — The economy is frightening. People are scared. They will do what they need to do in order to feel secure, including leaving their current job.
Prioritizing Employee Mental Health — The last 9 months have been hard. The next 9 months will be hard. Mental health is being taxed at an all time high. Companies that are cognizant of this and help their employees will benefit in the long run.
Including A ‘People’ Component In Each Strategic Goal — More than ever, people want to be valued — to be a part of the greater good. Your business’ goals should incorporate that concept because doing so will ingratiate the business with its people.
Reviewing Employee Perks — This is a good opportunity to be sensitive to what your people really need. Discount tickets to movie theaters or the zoo are farcical. Meal kits or dinner delivery are godsends.
Times of adversity are ideal times for character to shine. Be that good character and be ready for 2021.
